The Central and East European Moot competition (CEEMC) was founded in 1996 by the British Law Centre and simulates a preliminary reference from a fictional Member State of the European Union to the European Court of Justice.

The Central and East European Moot competition (CEEMC) now in its eighteenth year, involves teams of law students from a number of countries in Central and Eastern Europe who will compete against each other in the simulated forum of the Court of Justice to the European Union in Luxembourg. The competition is organised by the British Law Centres of the educational charity Juris Angliae Scientia Ltd and held under the auspices of the Court of Justice and the Centre for European Legal Studies of the University of Cambridge. In past years it has been held in Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Latvia, LIthuania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
The venue in 2011 was Vilnius, Lithuania.
Teams from Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine have taken part in past competitions, to find themselves competing before a panel of judges comprised of experts from the European Court of Justice and the European Commission, the world of academia and professional legal community.
We were particularly honoured to welcome Lord Slynn of Hadley as President of our Judicial Commitee in 1996-1997 and 1999-2008, Advocate General Fennelly in 1998 and our current President, Advocate General Eleanor Sharpston in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Winning teams and best speakers have come from Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Ma;lta, Russia, Slovakia and Slovenia since its inception, winning prizes enabling them to visit both the European Court in Luxembourg and the University of Cambridge
